For a home with no pets, 30-90 days, with pets 20-45 days. If you suffer from allergies your filter should be changed more frequently, at least once a month.
SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the ratio of cooling produced divided by the amount of power it uses. Simply stated SEER measures how much it costs to cool or heat your home.
It is normal to see ice on your heat pump during cold weather. When the heat pump is working to heat your home, frost will form on the coils. When the pump produces heat the refrigerant turns to gas and then condenses when it encounters the outdoor coil. In the colder months the condensation will freeze causing ice to form on the pump. The heat pump has a defrost function that runs in cycles. When the coil collects a layer of ice and the unit reaches a certain point the defrost cycle will automatically activate to keep the unit functioning properly.
A noticeable decrease in the output capacity, usually light air flow or no air flow.
The entire heat pump is completely frozen for a long period of time and the defrost cycle does not activate.
When there is no airflow and the unit is completely frozen, power your unit off to prevent further damage and call Dynamic Air Climate Solutions for assistance.
